2011 CGSL Membership Information

Welcome to the Cabbagetown Group Softball League's 36th season!

Whether you're here to play competitively or to meet new people - the CGSL is the place for you. As a volunteer run organization, we are committed to providing you a great experience - social events, fundraisers, fair play, instruction, opportunities for improvement, an elaborate awards banquet, opportunities to play in tournaments across North America and a safe and fun environment.

General Information:

Who are we?
The CGSL has over 300 members who are gay, lesbian and straight that join together to play softball in an atmosphere free from discrimination as to skill, gender, race, religion or sexual orientation. To learn more about our history, click here.

When do we play?
Play only on Friday nights and Saturday's (No long weekend games) May through August with playoffs in September.

Where do we play?
In past we have played at McCleary Park, Coronation Park or Riverdale Park Red clay diamonds with night lights Umpires for all games (ASA umpires) Play by ASA and NASA rules

League Structure
The Executive Committee structures the divisions and games each season A league team shall consist of a minimum of 14 players. No Team may have more than 18 players
Non-players can choose to be associated with a league team if approved by the team manager. There is no limit of the number of non-players affiliated with a league team.
The 2011 Season will consist of a sliding scale matrix based upon team standings from 2010 season, ratings of top 10 players and the discretion of the Commissioner and the Executive Committee. There will be no set divisions for the 2011 season. Teams will be reshuffled after Canada Cup for the second half of the season. Team standings for play-offs will be established at the end of the regular season play.

New Players:
All new players get rated and placed on teams that match their own skill level.
New Players pay only $109!.

Registration Dates & Locations:

We will be having 3 registrations where you can meet some of the other teams and Managers and find out more about playing with the CGSL.

March 19th (Sat) 5-9pm - Pagasus
March 27th (Sun) 1-5pm - Churchmouse & Firkin
April 2th (Sat) 5-9pm - George's Play


Ratings Clinic(s) Sat Apr 9th at 11 am and Sun Apr 10th at 11 am at McCleary Park. Rainout dates are the following week, Saturday April 16th and Sunday April 17th, also at McCleary Park.

Membership Fees:
Players: $140.00
New Players: $109.00
Non-Players: $50.00
Team Fee: $400.00 (may be paid in 2 installments but must be paid in full by April 2nd)
