Commissioners Update

I know we are all looking forward to a fun-filled season of softball in 2020, but as you are all aware, we are currently experiencing some uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic. With the current provincial and federal measures in place, the start of the season and Opening weekend will be delayed until June 5th, 2020.
This move aligns with the current government and Toronto’s Board of Health guidelines regarding group gatherings and allows for league issues such as the Ratings and Skills clinic and the Victoria Holiday weekend. As well, it provides Teams/Managers more time to work with sponsors, who may be feeling the economic effects of this crisis.

Does that mean the CGSL will be extending or altering the season?
As the situation is quite fluid, a decision has not been made to alter the season further or extend it into September to accommodate the late start.  The CGSL Executive will be monitoring the situation closely to explore all options to ensure value for your membership.

What about the early bird price, will it be honored still?
The early bird price of $175 will be honored until May 1st to accommodate the delayed 2020 season. Team Fee deadline has also been extended until May 1st.

While we have done our best to address some of the most immediate questions and concerns from the league members, the situation remains uncertain, some of the updates we have shared may change depending on communication from Health Canada, and the municipal, provincial and federal government offices.

We are continuing to meet as an Executive Board on a weekly basis (via teleconference) amidst this crisis and will provide updates as they become available. We appreciate your patience and want to reiterate, our commitment is first and foremost is to the health and safety of our players, members, umpires and fans.
To assist in the decision-making process for the Executive related to your playtime, please take a moment to complete our survey which will be coming out via email to the membership within the next couple of days. The Executive appreciates your input, but also your flexibility and understanding.
As we are a great family, please take a few moments during this time of uncertainty to reach out via phone and/or social media to your teammates, fans and friends to ensure their welfare and to help us all, in even a small way, just a simple hello to get us through.

MIST TORONTO 2020 RAPTORS RAFFLE UPDATE

Thank you to everyone who participated in the MIST Raptors Raffle. We want to inform you that due to the current health concerns, the drawing of the winner will be postponed until such a time as we can safely gather members of the MIST Toronto 2020 Committee to complete a fair and random drawing. Once the new raffle date has been finalized, the winner will be selected randomly from all the entries, and announced on the CGSL and MIST Facebook pages.

While the Raptors are currently postponing their games indefinitely, the MIST Toronto 2020 Committee will retain the prize (tickets). We will be in communication with the prize winner, and in the rare event the tickets are not honored, alternate arrangements will be made.

We thank you again for your continued support, and look forward to more events in the future.

Sincerely,

2020 MIST Toronto Committee
